If you are taking mountain ranges or rivers right from our planet you honestly couldn’t have anything more realistic, it currently exists. If you manage to find something you like, replicate it. Look for some far-off coastlines and see if you can find any shapes that catch your eye. You can go as deep into this as you like but most of the time just looking at another map is enough to get the juices flowing.Įven if you’re starting with either of the other methods above or currently have a map started, take a quick minute and look at Earth’s map. What is the main trade product of this town?.Is there a specific reason why the coastlines are shaped that way?.Why did they put that mountain range there?. ![]() ![]() While you’re looking at other maps ask yourself some questions like I’m talking about looking at someone’s work with the eyes of a creator.
